VCF9-AO Training for Your Team — VMware Cloud Foundation 9.0: Automate and Operate

Deploying VMware Cloud Foundation gets you a platform; it does not get you a private cloud. The difference is the layer this course covers: monitoring and capacity management across the whole stack, automated provisioning with real governance, and a self-service catalog that lets development teams consume infrastructure without filing tickets — or bypassing you entirely.

VCF 9.0: Automate and Operate is the operations-and-automation course of the VCF 9 curriculum, built around VCF Operations and VCF Automation — the integrated successors to the Aria line under Broadcom’s restructured portfolio. For teams that ran Aria products, it is the bridge to the new packaging; for teams new to the stack, it is the second course after Build, Manage and Secure, and the one that determines whether the platform investment turns into a service the business notices.

We organize delivery through authorized partners with full-stack lab environments — live online in your time zone, on site, or as a private group with emphasis on the services your internal customers are waiting for.

Who this course is for

  • Platform teams turning a deployed VCF estate into an operated private cloud service
  • Engineers who ran Aria Operations or Aria Automation and need the VCF-era equivalents
  • Cloud administrators building self-service provisioning for development teams
  • Managed-service providers standardizing VCF operations across customers

VCF9-AO vs alternatives: which to choose

Factual criteria only — level, duration, audience and certification. The right choice depends on your team's starting point and stack.

VCF 9.0 Build, Manage & Secure (VCF9-BMS)

The flagship platform course: architecture, deployment and core administration of the VCF stack. Take it first — Automate and Operate assumes a running platform and concentrates on the operations and automation layer above it.

VCF 9.0 Troubleshooting

The reactive counterpart: diagnosing the stack when it misbehaves. Choose Troubleshooting for the engineers who own incidents; Automate and Operate for the ones who own the service catalog, monitoring and capacity.

A custom intensive

Rolling out self-service to specific internal teams? A custom program can pair the VCF Automation material with a blueprint-design workshop on your actual services — the step where most automation projects stall.

Need only part of VCF9-AO?

If your team needs a subset of this program — or a mix of topics from several courses — we build a custom 2–4 day intensive on our own materials, shaped by your infrastructure. One custom program typically replaces 2–3 catalog courses.

VCF9-AO: frequently asked questions

We used Aria Operations and Aria Automation — is this the replacement training?

Effectively yes. Broadcom folded the Aria products into the platform as VCF Operations and VCF Automation, and this course teaches them in that integrated role. Existing Aria skills transfer well conceptually, but the packaging, workflows and platform integration are new enough to warrant structured training.

Do we need the Build, Manage and Secure course first?

It is the assumed baseline: this course starts from a deployed VCF platform and works on operating and automating it. Engineers with equivalent hands-on VCF experience can join directly — describe your team in the request form and we will advise on sequencing.

Is this course relevant for a small VCF deployment?

Monitoring and lifecycle content applies at any size. The automation and self-service material pays off once multiple teams consume the platform — if you run a single-team estate, Build, Manage and Secure plus targeted operations topics may serve you better.

Which certification does this support?

It supports the VMware Cloud Foundation certification track at the VCP level, alongside the platform course. Certification paths under the Broadcom program are updated periodically, so we confirm the current exam mapping and voucher options with each quote.
