How does the Design course differ from ICM?

ICM teaches configuration and operation; Design teaches choice. The material is architecture decisions — topology, underlay requirements, edge sizing, segmentation strategy — evaluated against requirements and constraints, with documentation discipline to match. Expect design exercises and defended trade-offs rather than configuration labs.

Who should attend — network people or virtualization people?

Whoever will sign the design. It assumes both solid NSX experience and genuine enterprise networking depth — routing, BGP, failure domains. Virtualization engineers without the networking half should build it first; the design conversation assumes it constantly.

Is this relevant if NSX only exists inside our VCF platform?

Especially then. VCF makes NSX load-bearing and will default many decisions unless someone makes them deliberately — topology, edge placement, segmentation model. This course is how the person who owns networking makes those defaults into choices.

Does it cover micro-segmentation design?

Yes — as an architecture problem rather than a firewall feature: segmentation models, policy structure and the maintainability question that decides whether the design survives its third year. The mechanics of distributed firewalling are covered in ICM and assumed here.
