Omnissa Horizon 8: Deploy and Manage

Most VDI problems are design problems that waited. The estate that cannot survive a site failure, the storage that saturates at month-end login storms, the image architecture that made every application update a project — none of these were operational mistakes; they were decisions nobody consciously made at design time. Omnissa End-User Computing: Design is the course for making those decisions deliberately.
It teaches a structured design method across the Omnissa EUC stack — the former VMware EUC portfolio: translating business requirements into architecture, sizing from workload profiles rather than optimism, availability and recovery design with honest cost trade-offs, and image and application strategy set before deployment rather than discovered after. This is an expert-level course; operational fluency with Horizon is the entry ticket, and the output skill is a design that survives review.
We organize delivery through authorized partners with instructors who produce EUC designs professionally — live online in your time zone, on site, or as a private group built around a design case close to your own project.
Topic areas below are grouped in our own words. The full official agenda is available on request — it comes from the authorized partner as part of your quote.

Factual criteria only — level, duration, audience and certification. The right choice depends on your team's starting point and stack.
The implementation-level platform course. Choose HDM8 for engineers who build and operate; the Design course assumes that operational fluency and works one level up — requirements, sizing, availability and the decisions made before anything is installed.
Advanced administration of the infrastructure layer as it exists. Choose HIAT8 to run and scale a live estate; choose Design when the task is producing the architecture — a new deployment, a consolidation or a formal design document.
Facing one concrete design decision — a two-site DR architecture, a 5,000-seat sizing exercise? A custom design workshop with a senior architect can work your actual project instead of a generic case study.
If your team needs a subset of this program — or a mix of topics from several courses — we build a custom 2–4 day intensive on our own materials, shaped by your infrastructure. One custom program typically replaces 2–3 catalog courses.
Explore custom coursesAn architecture course for technical people. It assumes you already know how Horizon and the surrounding EUC components work, and teaches the layer above: gathering requirements, making and justifying design decisions, sizing, availability trade-offs and producing documentation an implementation team can execute.
Broad hands-on EUC experience — Horizon administration at minimum, ideally exposure to App Volumes, DEM and Unified Access Gateway. The course exercises are design cases; participants without operational background lack the raw material the method works with.
Yes — design exercises run through realistic scenarios from requirements to documented architecture, typically in group work with instructor review. That format is the point: design skill comes from making and defending decisions, not from memorizing reference architectures.
The end-user-computing portfolio, Horizon included, moved from VMware to Omnissa as an independent company. Design principles, platform architecture and skills carry over; the course and related certifications are simply maintained under the Omnissa name today.
