Omnissa Horizon 8: Deploy and Manage

Every VDI team eventually meets the same monster: the golden image that grew a variant for every department, each needing its own patch cycle, each drifting from the others. Omnissa App Volumes and Dynamic Environment Manager is the course about killing that monster — separating applications and user personality from the operating system so one clean image can serve an entire workforce.
Participants learn to package applications as attachable volumes, manage their lifecycle without image rebuilds, decide when writable volumes are justified, and drive user profiles and policy through Dynamic Environment Manager so a non-persistent desktop still feels personal. Combined with Horizon instant clones, this is the architecture that makes stateless VDI genuinely operable — and the course assumes you already run Horizon at Deploy-and-Manage level.
We organize delivery through authorized partners under the current Omnissa structure — live online in your time zone, on site, or as a private group, with your application portfolio shaping the lab emphasis where that helps.
Topic areas below are grouped in our own words. The full official agenda is available on request — it comes from the authorized partner as part of your quote.

Factual criteria only — level, duration, audience and certification. The right choice depends on your team's starting point and stack.
The platform course: pools, publishing and Horizon operations. Take it first — App Volumes and DEM sit on top of a running Horizon estate, and this course assumes you already operate one.
Deepens the server and infrastructure side of Horizon. Choose HIAT8 when the challenge is scaling and diagnosing the platform; AVDEM8 when it is application delivery and user-environment management on top of it. Many teams take both.
Untangling a specific image-sprawl problem? A custom program can work through your actual application portfolio — packaging order, writable-volume policy and a target image architecture — rather than the generic curriculum.
If your team needs a subset of this program — or a mix of topics from several courses — we build a custom 2–4 day intensive on our own materials, shaped by your infrastructure. One custom program typically replaces 2–3 catalog courses.
Explore custom coursesGolden-image sprawl and login-time chaos. App Volumes delivers applications as attachable volumes so one clean image serves many user groups; Dynamic Environment Manager applies profile and policy settings per user. Together they make non-persistent, instant-clone VDI practical for real workforces.
If applications are baked into golden images and every department demands its own image, yes — this is precisely the skill set that breaks that cycle. Horizon Deploy and Manage covers where these tools fit; this course teaches actually running them.
Yes, including the design judgment they require: which users genuinely need persistence, what belongs in a writable volume versus DEM policy, and the operational care writable volumes demand. The lab work covers creation, assignment and troubleshooting.
App Volumes and Dynamic Environment Manager moved to Omnissa with the rest of the former VMware end-user-computing portfolio. The products, architecture and skills are continuous; training and support are simply provided under the Omnissa name now.
