CNS-320 Training for Your Team — NetScaler 14.1: Advanced Security, Management and Optimization

Once a NetScaler estate is stable, a different problem surfaces: the applications behind it are exposed to the internet, the fleet has grown past what one spreadsheet can track, and security wants a WAF enabled by the end of the quarter. CNS-320 (NetScaler 14.1: Advanced Security, Management and Optimization) is the expert-level course for that stage — web application firewalling and the tuning that keeps it out of permanent log-only mode, bot management, fleet-wide administration and analytics, and the optimization features that make applications measurably faster on the wire.

It assumes working platform administration from CNS-225 or CNS-227 and runs on current NetScaler 14.1 releases — the platform formerly branded Citrix ADC, now back under its original name at Cloud Software Group.

As a training operator, we arrange delivery through authorized partners with instructors who tune WAF policies for a living — live online in your time zone, on site, or as a private group built around your application portfolio.

Who this course is for

  • NetScaler administrators stepping up to the security layer
  • Security engineers deploying WAF and bot protection on existing ADC estates
  • Teams consolidating management of a grown NetScaler fleet
  • Engineers preparing for advanced Citrix networking certification

CNS-320 vs alternatives: which to choose

Factual criteria only — level, duration, audience and certification. The right choice depends on your team's starting point and stack.

CNS-225 (Deploy and Manage with Traffic Management)

The prerequisite-level course: platform deployment, load balancing, SSL and GSLB. Take it first — CNS-320 assumes you already operate NetScaler daily and builds the security and fleet-management layer on top.

CNS-420 (Assessment, Design and Advanced Configuration)

The expert design course: assessing requirements and architecting multi-site Citrix networking deployments. Choose CNS-420 for architects planning what to build; CNS-320 for engineers securing and optimizing what already runs.

A custom intensive

A WAF rollout for three specific applications, or a bot problem on one public endpoint? A custom program can compress the relevant half of CNS-320 into a project-shaped workshop against your own traffic patterns.

Need only part of CNS-320?

If your team needs a subset of this program — or a mix of topics from several courses — we build a custom 2–4 day intensive on our own materials, shaped by your infrastructure. One custom program typically replaces 2–3 catalog courses.

CNS-320: frequently asked questions

What should attendees already know?

Working NetScaler administration at CNS-225 or CNS-227 level: deployment, load balancing, SSL and high availability should be routine. This course is the advanced tier — it spends its time on web application firewalling, bot management, fleet administration and optimization.

Is the web application firewall content theoretical or practical?

Practical: labs cover deploying protections, learning-mode tuning and the false-positive triage that decides whether a WAF ends up enforcing or permanently in log-only mode. That tuning discipline is the most valuable and least documented part of the job.

Does the course cover central management of multiple appliances?

Yes — managing NetScaler as a fleet is a core theme: centralized configuration, monitoring, analytics and upgrade discipline across many instances. Teams that grew from one appliance to a dozen usually find this the most immediately applicable module.

We run Citrix ADC firmware — does this course apply?

Yes. Citrix ADC is the same product line, renamed back to NetScaler under Cloud Software Group. Training runs on current 14.1 releases, and the security and management capabilities map directly onto ADC-branded estates planning their next upgrade.
