CNS-227 Training for Your Team — NetScaler 14.1: Deploy and Manage with Citrix Gateway

For thousands of organizations, the single most security-critical device they run is the one that lets remote users into their virtual apps and desktops — and it is usually configured the way it was on day one. CNS-227 (NetScaler 14.1: Deploy and Manage with Citrix Gateway) trains the engineers who own that front door: platform deployment and high availability, then the Gateway itself — authentication and multifactor flows, session policies, TLS hygiene, and methodical troubleshooting of the full remote-access path.

The course covers current NetScaler 14.1 releases; since Citrix ADC has been renamed back to NetScaler under Cloud Software Group, everything applies equally to estates still carrying the ADC label. It pairs naturally with CVAD administration training for teams who own both layers.

We organize delivery through authorized partners with instructors who run production remote-access estates — live online in your time zone, on site, or as a private group shaped around your identity stack and access policies.

Who this course is for

  • Engineers running NetScaler (formerly Citrix ADC) in front of a Citrix estate
  • CVAD administrators who inherited the Gateway with the rest of the stack
  • Security and network teams owning the remote-access perimeter
  • Teams replacing legacy VPN entry points with Gateway-based access

CNS-227 vs alternatives: which to choose

Factual criteria only — level, duration, audience and certification. The right choice depends on your team's starting point and stack.

CNS-225 (Deploy and Manage with Traffic Management)

The same platform core with the other specialization: load balancing, SSL offload, content switching and GSLB. Choose CNS-225 when NetScaler fronts general business applications; CNS-227 when its main job is secure remote access to virtual apps and desktops.

CWS-215 (CVAD Administration)

The virtualization estate behind the Gateway. Admins who own both layers usually take CWS-215 first — Gateway troubleshooting makes far more sense when you understand what a healthy CVAD session looks like from the inside.

A custom intensive

Rolling out multifactor authentication, replacing a legacy VPN, or hardening an existing Gateway? A custom short program can rehearse that one project on a replica of your access architecture.

Need only part of CNS-227?

If your team needs a subset of this program — or a mix of topics from several courses — we build a custom 2–4 day intensive on our own materials, shaped by your infrastructure. One custom program typically replaces 2–3 catalog courses.

CNS-227: frequently asked questions

CNS-225 or CNS-227 — how do we choose?

By what your NetScaler does all day. Both courses share the deploy-and-manage core; CNS-227 spends the specialization time on Citrix Gateway and remote access, CNS-225 on traffic management. Teams fronting a CVAD estate almost always want CNS-227.

Does the course cover multifactor authentication?

Yes — authentication is a core theme: multifactor flows, policy design and how authentication decisions map to session rights. Private groups can weight this toward the identity stack you actually run, which is where most real deployments get interesting.

Is Citrix ADC knowledge transferable to this course?

Directly. Citrix ADC is the same platform, renamed back to NetScaler under Cloud Software Group. The course runs on current 14.1 releases; experience with ADC-branded firmware maps cleanly, and instructors point out what the recent releases changed.

How much Citrix CVAD knowledge is assumed?

Enough to know what the Gateway is protecting: how users launch apps and desktops. Deep CVAD administration is not required, but teams who own both layers often pair this course with CWS-215 in one training plan.

How do we organize CNS-227 training?
