Implementing Automation for Cisco Enterprise Solutions

Script-based automation has a ceiling, and large networks hit it predictably: no transactional rollback, no reliable record of intended state, and every service change re-implemented per vendor. NSO201 (Cisco Network Services Orchestrator Essentials for Programmers and Network Architects) is the course for teams moving past that ceiling — it teaches NSO as a platform: the configuration database as source of truth, YANG-modeled services, transactional deployment with real rollback, and device management across multi-vendor fleets.
The course deliberately serves two audiences at once. Architects leave able to judge what orchestration changes about service delivery and where NSO fits their estate; developers leave able to build service packages with templates and Python and integrate NSO northbound into existing tooling. Most production NSO teams need both, which is why mixed groups are the norm rather than the exception.
We arrange delivery through authorized partners with instructors who build and operate NSO in production networks — live online in your time zone, on site, or as a private group shaped around your service portfolio.
Topic areas below are grouped in our own words. The full official agenda is available on request — it comes from the authorized partner as part of your quote.

Factual criteria only — level, duration, audience and certification. The right choice depends on your team's starting point and stack.
Automation of the enterprise estate through device and controller APIs — Python, Ansible, Catalyst Center. Choose ENAUI when the task is automating an enterprise network; NSO201 when the task is a dedicated orchestration platform managing services transactionally across many devices and vendors.
The general software-development core: API design, CI/CD, application security across Cisco platforms, with exam 350-901 behind it. Choose DEVCOR for broad DevNet certification; NSO201 is product-specific depth with no exam — valuable precisely when NSO is the committed platform.
Teams inheriting an existing NSO installation often need less "essentials" and more "our services, our NEDs, our upgrade backlog". A custom program on our materials can be built around your actual service models and integration points.
If your team needs a subset of this program — or a mix of topics from several courses — we build a custom 2–4 day intensive on our own materials, shaped by your infrastructure. One custom program typically replaces 2–3 catalog courses.
Explore custom coursesBoth, by design. Network architects get the architecture, device management and service lifecycle; developers get YANG modeling, templates and Python service logic. Mixed groups work well because production NSO teams need both perspectives. Neither side needs the other profession, but each needs curiosity about it.
No. YANG is taught from the ground up, at working depth — enough to read, write and debug service models. Prior exposure to structured data (JSON, XML) and any scripting language makes the modeling sections noticeably easier, which is why we list automation basics as the prerequisite.
No exam maps to this course — NSO expertise is validated in practice rather than by certificate. Teams that also want a credential usually pair NSO work with the DevNet track: DEVCOR plus a concentration. We can plan both threads together if certification matters to you.
That is the typical reason teams choose NSO: network element drivers let one orchestrator manage services across equipment from many vendors transactionally. The course covers the device abstraction directly, and instructors can discuss driver coverage for the platforms your estate actually contains.
