DEVCOR Training for Your Team — Developing Applications Using Cisco Core Platforms and APIs

Most network automation starts as a script and dies as one: no version control, no tests, no pipeline, one author who left last year. DEVCOR (Developing Applications Using Cisco Core Platforms and APIs) is the course for teams past that stage — it treats automation as software engineering, covering API design, application architecture, CI/CD, containerization, security and observability, with Cisco platform APIs as the working material.

It is also the core certification course of the DevNet track: exam 350-901 is the professional core of Cisco Certified DevNet Professional, paired with one concentration exam of your choice. For integrators, DevNet-certified developers increasingly sit alongside CCNP engineers in partner requirements; for in-house teams, DEVCOR is the standard preparation before building integrations that production will depend on.

As a training operator, we arrange DEVCOR delivery through authorized partners with instructors who write and run this kind of code for a living — live online in your time zone, at your site, or as a private group weighted toward the platforms your team actually integrates.

Who this course is for

  • Developers building integrations and internal tooling on Cisco platform APIs
  • Network automation engineers moving from working scripts to maintainable software
  • DevOps engineers who own the pipelines around network and platform tooling
  • Integrator teams that need DevNet Professional engineers for partner requirements

DEVCOR vs alternatives: which to choose

Factual criteria only — level, duration, audience and certification. The right choice depends on your team's starting point and stack.

Cisco DEVASC (DevNet Associate)

The associate-level entry point: Python, APIs and automation fundamentals over five days. Choose DEVASC if the team is still building those basics; DEVCOR assumes them and concentrates on software design, deployment and platform depth at professional level.

Cisco ENAUI (Enterprise Automation)

A shorter, enterprise-network-specific automation course built around IOS XE, Catalyst Center and SD-WAN APIs. Choose ENAUI when the goal is automating the network estate; DEVCOR when the goal is engineers who develop applications and integrations properly.

A custom intensive

If your team only needs the CI/CD and API-integration portions of DEVCOR applied to your own toolchain, a custom 2–4 day program on our materials covers exactly that scope — without the full certification curriculum.

Need only part of DEVCOR?

If your team needs a subset of this program — or a mix of topics from several courses — we build a custom 2–4 day intensive on our own materials, shaped by your infrastructure. One custom program typically replaces 2–3 catalog courses.

DEVCOR: frequently asked questions

Is DEVCOR enough for the DevNet Professional certification?

DEVCOR covers the core exam 350-901, which is half of Cisco Certified DevNet Professional. You also need one concentration exam — enterprise automation (ENAUTO), security, collaboration or another track. We help plan the full path, including the matching concentration course.

How much programming experience do participants need?

Comfortable, working Python — writing functions, handling JSON, calling REST APIs — roughly DEVASC level. DEVCOR is a software development course, not an introduction to coding; engineers who only read scripts will struggle. We can schedule DEVASC first for part of a mixed group.

How is DEVCOR different from DEVASC?

DEVASC teaches the fundamentals: Python, APIs, automation concepts. DEVCOR assumes them and goes professional — software architecture, API design, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, security and operational instrumentation. DEVASC produces engineers who can script; DEVCOR produces engineers who can ship and maintain software.

Is the course Cisco-specific or general software development?

Both, deliberately. The design, deployment and security material is general software engineering; the labs and API work run against Cisco platforms across networking, collaboration and security. The engineering skills transfer anywhere, but the certification and the lab context are Cisco throughout.

How do we organize DEVCOR training?
