Is this the same product as Site Recovery Manager (SRM)?
Yes — VMware Live Site Recovery is the current name for what was long sold as Site Recovery Manager, renamed as part of the Broadcom-era portfolio reshuffle. Existing SRM skills and designs carry over; the course teaches the product under its current name and packaging.
Does the course cover replication too, or only orchestration?
Both layers: vSphere Replication as the built-in option and the role of array-based replication where storage teams provide it. The orchestration content — protection groups, recovery plans, testing — is the core, since that is what the product uniquely adds.
Can we actually test failover without a real outage?
Yes — non-disruptive test failover into an isolated network is one of the product’s defining capabilities, and the course treats it as the habit that separates working DR from documented DR. Teams typically leave planning quarterly rehearsals.
Our DR is currently a spreadsheet of manual steps — is this course premature?
It is precisely the escape route: recovery plans encode that spreadsheet as an executable, testable sequence — startup order, dependencies, network remapping. Participants regularly rebuild their manual runbook as a recovery plan during the labs.
