CLFNDU Training for Your Team — Understanding Cisco Collaboration Foundations

Most people who run enterprise telephony never chose it — the phone system landed on the network team, or a support technician became “the voice person” by attrition. They keep it running by pattern-matching, which works until the first dial-plan change or gateway fault. CLFNDU (Understanding Cisco Collaboration Foundations) is the course that replaces pattern-matching with understanding: how calls, video and meetings actually work, basic Unified CM administration, gateway and PSTN concepts, QoS fundamentals, and where Webex fits in the modern estate.

There is no exam attached — CLFNDU is the deliberate on-ramp to the professional track. Teams run it to give new UC staff a real foundation, or as a shared baseline before sending engineers into CLCOR and the CCNP Collaboration path, where that foundation is assumed rather than taught.

We organize delivery through authorized partners with instructors who teach beginners well — a distinct skill — live online in your time zone, on site, or as a private group paced to your team.

Who this course is for

  • Network engineers assigned voice responsibilities for the first time
  • Helpdesk and support staff promoted into UC administration
  • Career changers entering the collaboration field with networking basics
  • Teams preparing a shared baseline before the CCNP Collaboration track

CLFNDU vs alternatives: which to choose

Factual criteria only — level, duration, audience and certification. The right choice depends on your team's starting point and stack.

Cisco CLCOR (Collaboration Core)

The professional-level core course, mapped to exam 350-801 and the CCNP Collaboration certification. Choose CLCOR when engineers already work with voice concepts daily; CLFNDU is the on-ramp that makes CLCOR productive rather than overwhelming.

Cisco CCNA

The general networking foundation: routing, switching, IP services. CLFNDU assumes that baseline rather than teaching it — if your people are new to networking itself, CCNA comes first, then collaboration on top.

A custom intensive

Onboarding a support team onto one specific platform rather than the whole collaboration landscape? A custom 2–3 day program on our materials covers your estate — your call flows, your tools, your escalation paths.

Need only part of CLFNDU?

If your team needs a subset of this program — or a mix of topics from several courses — we build a custom 2–4 day intensive on our own materials, shaped by your infrastructure. One custom program typically replaces 2–3 catalog courses.

CLFNDU: frequently asked questions

Is there a certification exam attached to CLFNDU?

No — CLFNDU is a preparation course, not an exam course. Its role is to build the working vocabulary and hands-on basics of Cisco collaboration so that engineers can then take CLCOR and the CCNP Collaboration track with a realistic chance of keeping up.

Who is the typical CLFNDU student?

Someone with networking basics but no formal voice background: a network engineer handed the phone system, a support technician moving up, or a new hire on a UC team. Experienced voice engineers should go straight to CLCOR.

What will attendees be able to do afterwards?

Handle day-to-day collaboration administration: adding users and devices, understanding call flows well enough to triage problems, working with dial plan basics, and speaking the same language as senior UC engineers and vendors instead of forwarding every ticket.

Should we run CLFNDU or go straight to CLCOR?

A useful test: can the engineer explain how a call gets from a handset to the PSTN today? If yes, start with CLCOR. If not, CLFNDU first saves money — CLCOR assumes that knowledge and does not slow down for it.
