VMware vSphere 8: Install, Configure, Manage

Most virtualization estates were never designed — they accreted. A cluster added for one project, storage chosen under a deadline, availability settings copied from the last environment. VMware vSphere 8: Design is the course for engineers who are done inheriting those decisions and are now expected to make them: it teaches a repeatable design methodology — requirements, constraints, risks, trade-offs — and applies it to the compute, storage, networking and availability choices that define what a platform can and cannot survive.
This is deliberately not a configuration course. The three days are spent on judgment: why a decision is right for one set of requirements and wrong for another, and how to document the reasoning so it holds up in review. It is the standard preparation for the advanced design track and the natural next step for VCP-certified engineers, whether the estate ahead is classic vSphere or a stepping stone toward VMware Cloud Foundation.
As a training operator, we arrange delivery through authorized partners, selecting instructors who design production environments rather than just teach them — live online in your time zone, on site, or as a private group built around your own design scenario.
Topic areas below are grouped in our own words. The full official agenda is available on request — it comes from the authorized partner as part of your quote.

Factual criteria only — level, duration, audience and certification. The right choice depends on your team's starting point and stack.
The administration foundation this course assumes cold. Choose ICM to learn how vSphere works; Design when the question has shifted from “how do I configure this” to “what should this environment look like and why”.
The equivalent design discipline applied to the full VMware Cloud Foundation stack. Choose VCF9-SAD if your organization is standardizing on VCF; VSD8 when classic vSphere clusters are the platform being designed.
Facing one concrete design project — a data center consolidation, a stretched cluster, a hardware refresh? A custom workshop can apply the design methodology directly to your requirements document instead of a classroom scenario.
If your team needs a subset of this program — or a mix of topics from several courses — we build a custom 2–4 day intensive on our own materials, shaped by your infrastructure. One custom program typically replaces 2–3 catalog courses.
Explore custom coursesAdministration courses teach how features work; this one teaches how to choose between them. The material centers on methodology — requirements, constraints, trade-offs, documentation — applied to compute, storage, network and availability decisions. Expect discussion and design exercises rather than configuration labs.
This is an expert-level course: it assumes several years of hands-on vSphere work and does not revisit administration basics. Engineers below that bar get far more from ICM or Operate, Scale and Secure first — we can sequence a mixed team accordingly.
It supports the advanced design track (VCAP level) in data center virtualization. Certification requirements shift periodically under the current Broadcom program, so we confirm the exact exam mapping and voucher options when you request the course.
Partially — the design methodology transfers completely, but VCF adds domain architecture, integrated NSX and lifecycle constraints of its own. Teams committed to VCF should look at the VCF 9.0 Solution Architecture and Design course instead, or take both in sequence.
Fill in the request form on this page — team size, format, timing. Within 5 business days you receive 2–3 options from authorized partners with vetted instructors, dates and prices below public lists.
No commitment — describe the task and we come back with concrete options, dates and prices.
