NAC-ADM Training for Your Team — FortiNAC-F Administrator

Every network has more devices than its inventory admits — the audit usually finds twice as many, and nobody can say what half of them are. FortiNAC-F exists to close that gap: discover and profile everything on the wire and the air, decide what each device may reach, and enforce it automatically. The FortiNAC-F Administrator course trains engineers to run that system — profiling, policy, enforcement across multi-vendor switching and wireless, and automated response when an endpoint starts misbehaving.

The course reflects the current FortiNAC-F generation of the product within Fortinet’s security fabric, and it is as much about rollout discipline as configuration: visibility before alerting, alerting before enforcement — the sequence that keeps a NAC project from becoming a self-inflicted outage.

We arrange delivery through authorized partners with instructors who have shipped real NAC deployments — live online in your time zone, on site, or as a private group weighted toward your device landscape.

Who this course is for

  • Network engineers tasked with a NAC or network-segmentation project
  • Security teams that need visibility and control over unmanaged and IoT devices
  • Fortinet-stack administrators extending the security fabric to the access layer
  • IT teams in healthcare, manufacturing and campus environments with device zoos to tame

NAC-ADM vs alternatives: which to choose

Factual criteria only — level, duration, audience and certification. The right choice depends on your team's starting point and stack.

FCP FortiGate 7.6 Administrator

The firewall administration foundation. FortiGate controls traffic between segments; FortiNAC-F decides which device lands in which segment in the first place. Most NAC projects assume the firewall side is already handled — take FortiGate training first if it is not.

Fortinet Secure Wireless LAN Administrator

The wireless infrastructure course. Wireless is where unmanaged devices arrive first, so the two topics meet constantly; choose the wireless course when the gap is running the WLAN itself, and NAC training when the gap is controlling what connects to it.

A custom intensive

NAC rollouts fail on process more than product. A custom workshop can combine FortiNAC-F administration with a phased enforcement plan for your actual estate — discovery first, alerts second, enforcement last — rehearsed with your switch and Wi-Fi vendors in mind.

Need only part of NAC-ADM?

If your team needs a subset of this program — or a mix of topics from several courses — we build a custom 2–4 day intensive on our own materials, shaped by your infrastructure. One custom program typically replaces 2–3 catalog courses.

NAC-ADM: frequently asked questions

What is FortiNAC-F and how does it relate to FortiNAC?

FortiNAC-F is the current generation of Fortinet's network access control product, running on the FortiOS-based platform. It carries the same mission as the earlier FortiNAC line — device visibility, classification and policy enforcement — and this course covers the current FortiNAC-F releases.

Does NAC require replacing our switches?

Usually not. FortiNAC-F enforces through standard mechanisms on existing multi-vendor infrastructure — including non-Fortinet switches and wireless — plus deeper integration with the Fortinet security fabric. The course covers what each enforcement method needs from your gear.

Our biggest problem is IoT and unmanaged devices — is this the right course?

That is the core use case. Profiling devices that cannot run agents — cameras, printers, controllers, medical equipment — and assigning them least-privilege network access is where NAC earns its keep, and where the course spends much of its lab time.

How disruptive is a NAC deployment?

Done abruptly, very; done in stages, barely. The recommended pattern — visibility mode first, then alerting, then enforcement scoped by segment — is discussed in the course, and it is the difference between a controlled rollout and a Monday morning outage.
