FCSS-PCS Training for Your Team — FCSS — Public Cloud Security 7.6 Architect

Workloads moved to the cloud faster than the security team’s mental model did. Firewalls became virtual machines in someone else’s data center, “the network” became route tables and security groups, and a design that was sound on-premises started leaking traffic around its own inspection points. FCSS — Public Cloud Security 7.6 Architect is Fortinet’s expert-level course for closing that gap.

It teaches the discipline of placing Fortinet enforcement correctly inside AWS and Azure: ingress, egress and east-west inspection architectures, high availability and autoscaling that respect how clouds actually fail, hybrid connectivity back to the on-premises fabric, and deployment as code rather than console work. The course sits in the FCSS solution-specialist tier — a level above FCP — and prepares for the corresponding Public Cloud Security certification exam.

We organize delivery through authorized partners, with instructors who design cloud security architectures professionally — live online in your time zone, on site, or as a private group focused on the cloud platform your estate runs.

Who this course is for

  • Security architects responsible for workloads moving into AWS or Azure
  • Network security engineers whose FortiGate estate is sprouting virtual instances
  • Cloud platform teams that inherited security enforcement along with the landing zone
  • FCP-certified engineers progressing to the FCSS solution-specialist tier

FCSS-PCS vs alternatives: which to choose

Factual criteria only — level, duration, audience and certification. The right choice depends on your team's starting point and stack.

FCP FortiGate 7.6 Administrator

The professional-level FortiOS administration course and the assumed baseline. Choose FCP first for engineers new to FortiGate; Public Cloud Security applies that knowledge to cloud-native deployment patterns, an expert tier higher.

FCSS — Enterprise Firewall 7.6 Administrator

The expert track for large on-premises and multi-site FortiGate estates. Choose Enterprise Firewall when the complexity lives in your own data centers and branches; Public Cloud Security when it lives in VPCs, VNets and autoscaling groups.

A custom intensive

Standardizing security for one specific landing-zone design? A custom 2–3 day program can work through your actual AWS or Azure architecture — inspection placement, IaC templates and migration order — instead of the full multi-cloud curriculum.

Need only part of FCSS-PCS?

If your team needs a subset of this program — or a mix of topics from several courses — we build a custom 2–4 day intensive on our own materials, shaped by your infrastructure. One custom program typically replaces 2–3 catalog courses.

FCSS-PCS: frequently asked questions

Which cloud platforms does the course cover?

The curriculum centers on the major public clouds — AWS and Azure deployment patterns for Fortinet security — with the architectural principles carrying over to other platforms. If your estate is single-cloud, a private delivery can weight labs and design discussions accordingly.

How does FCSS differ from FCP certification?

FCP (Fortinet Certified Professional) validates product administration; FCSS (Fortinet Certified Solution Specialist) is the tier above, validating solution-level design and integration skills. Public Cloud Security 7.6 Architect is an FCSS-level course with a matching certification exam.

Is this a cloud course or a firewall course?

Both, deliberately. It assumes you already administer FortiGate and know cloud basics, then covers the intersection: where inspection points belong in cloud networks, how HA and autoscaling change firewall design, and how to deploy it all as code.

Our cloud security is native tooling today — is this course still relevant?

Yes, if a Fortinet layer is planned or under evaluation. The course explicitly maps what native cloud controls handle and where FortiGate-VM inspection adds enforcement the platform does not provide — useful input for that architecture decision itself.

How do we organize FCSS-PCS training?
