Somewhere between the campus network and the cloud sits the estate nobody trained anyone for: racks of Nexus switches, a VXLAN fabric designed by a contractor, and a network team that learned NX-OS by cautious analogy with IOS. DCNX (Implementing Cisco NX-OS Switches and Fabrics in the Data Center) closes that gap with formal, current-generation platform training.
The course covers the modern standalone Nexus stack end to end: platform architecture, vPC and Layer 3 design, VXLAN EVPN overlay fabrics, controller-assisted fabric management and the day-two disciplines — upgrades, consistency, non-disruptive change — that separate a fabric from a pile of switches. It is the natural deep-dive for teams whose data center runs NX-OS rather than ACI, and a strong precursor to automation training once the fabric itself is under control.

The CCNP Data Center core (exam 350-601) spanning network, compute, storage and automation. Choose DCCOR for certification and full-stack breadth; DCNX when the job is specifically Nexus switching and VXLAN fabrics, taught at working depth.
The other fabric philosophy: policy-driven ACI with the APIC controller, mapped to exam 300-620. Choose DCACI if your fabric runs ACI; DCNX for standalone NX-OS and EVPN designs. Estates migrating between the two often train both.

Coverage centers on how Nexus estates are actually built today: vPC-based LAN designs, VXLAN EVPN overlays and controller-assisted fabric management.
It teaches the EVPN side at working depth, which is half of an informed decision. Teams genuinely undecided often pair DCNX with DCACI or take DCCOR for the panorama first. If the hardware is bought and runs standalone NX-OS, DCNX is the direct answer.
No single exam maps to it. The CCNP Data Center core exam 350-601 covers NX-OS and fabric topics among others, via the DCCOR course. DCNX is chosen for implementation depth on Nexus platforms — typically ahead of a fabric build or refresh.
That is the intended audience: CCNA-level routing and switching is assumed, data center specifics are not. The course makes the campus-to-DC transition explicit — where familiar concepts carry over, and where vPC, overlays and fabric thinking replace them.
