DCIT Training for Your Team — Troubleshooting Cisco Data Center Infrastructure

Data center incidents rarely respect team boundaries: the symptom lands in an application dashboard, the cause hides somewhere between a vPC pair, a UCS service profile and a storage path, and three teams spend the first hour proving it is not theirs. DCIT (Troubleshooting Cisco Data Center Infrastructure) trains the engineer who can walk that whole chain — with a method, not folklore.

The course drills fault isolation across the modern Cisco data center: LAN and VXLAN EVPN fabrics, UCS compute, Fibre Channel and IP storage networking, and the capture and diagnostic tooling that shortens every step. It prepares the 300-615 DCIT exam, the troubleshooting concentration of CCNP Data Center, making it the natural pairing with DCCOR for operations-focused engineers.

As a training operator, we organize delivery through authorized partners whose instructors have carried real escalation duty — live online in your time zone, on site, or as a private group with lab scenarios weighted toward the incidents your estate actually produces.

Who this course is for

  • Engineers on the operations rota for a Cisco-based data center
  • CCNP Data Center candidates choosing the troubleshooting concentration (300-615)
  • Network specialists widening into compute and storage incident response
  • Integrator support teams handling data center escalations under SLA

DCIT vs alternatives: which to choose

Factual criteria only — level, duration, audience and certification. The right choice depends on your team's starting point and stack.

Cisco DCCOR (Data Center Core)

The technology core and the mandatory 350-601 exam for CCNP Data Center. DCCOR builds the how-it-works layer; DCIT assumes it and drills what-broke-and-why. Take DCCOR first unless the team already operates the full stack daily.

Cisco DCID (Data Center Design)

The design concentration (exam 300-610) — same estate, opposite end of the lifecycle. Choose DCID for engineers moving into architecture; DCIT for those who carry the pager. Both satisfy the CCNP Data Center concentration requirement.

A custom intensive

If your incidents cluster in one area — say VXLAN fabrics plus UCS, no storage — a custom 2–3 day troubleshooting clinic on our materials drills exactly that mix, optionally against scenarios from your own ticket history.

Need only part of DCIT?

If your team needs a subset of this program — or a mix of topics from several courses — we build a custom 2–4 day intensive on our own materials, shaped by your infrastructure. One custom program typically replaces 2–3 catalog courses.

DCIT: frequently asked questions

What does the 300-615 exam count toward?

It is a CCNP Data Center concentration exam: combined with the 350-601 core (the DCCOR course) it completes the certification. It suits operations-focused engineers — the design-minded usually pick 300-610 instead. Passing it alone also earns a Cisco Specialist credential.

How much of the course is hands-on?

The format is fault-driven labs: scenarios begin with a symptom across LAN, fabric, compute or storage and end at a documented root cause. The lecture part exists to organize the method; the learning happens in the broken configurations, which is also how the exam thinks.

Does DCIT cover ACI troubleshooting?

It touches fabric and policy-related diagnostics as part of the broad data center scope, but ACI-specific incident work — endpoint learning, contracts, L3Outs in depth — belongs to the dedicated DCACIT course. DCIT is the right choice when your estate mixes NX-OS, UCS and storage.

Our team is strong on networking but thin on UCS and storage — will they cope?

Yes, if they meet the DCCOR-level baseline: the compute and storage troubleshooting modules build from symptoms rather than assuming deep platform expertise. Teams far below that baseline get more value taking DCCOR first and returning to DCIT afterwards.
