CCEF Training for Your Team — Understanding Cisco Contact Center Enterprise Foundations

Contact Center Enterprise is one of the more intimidating platforms an engineer can inherit: a distributed system of routing, self-service, desktop and reporting components, each with its own name, logs and administration surface — and a business on the other end measuring every minute of downtime in abandoned calls. CCEF (Understanding Cisco Contact Center Enterprise Foundations) is the two-day course that makes the platform legible: what the components are, how a call travels from the carrier through queuing to an agent, which deployment models exist, and who is responsible for what.

It deliberately stops before deep configuration — that is CCEA territory — and instead builds the mental model that makes every later CCE course, and every production incident, easier to navigate. Teams run it for new platform staff, for UC engineers absorbing contact center duties, and for architects who need the picture without the keystrokes.

We organize delivery through authorized partners and vetted instructors — live online in your time zone, on site, or as a private group using scenarios shaped like your operation.

Who this course is for

  • Engineers newly assigned to a Contact Center Enterprise platform team
  • UC and network staff who support CCE without formal training
  • Team leads and architects who need the platform picture, not the keystrokes
  • Anyone planning the CCEA administration course next

CCEF vs alternatives: which to choose

Factual criteria only — level, duration, audience and certification. The right choice depends on your team's starting point and stack.

Cisco CCEA (Administering CCE)

The hands-on administration course: agents, skill groups, routing scripts and the desktop environment. CCEF explains the platform; CCEA teaches you to operate it. Most teams run them as a sequence for new platform staff.

Cisco CCEI (Implementing CCE)

The deployment course: installing and integrating the solution components. Choose CCEI for engineers who will build or extend the platform; CCEF is the conceptual foundation both administrators and implementers should share first.

A custom intensive

Onboarding a mixed group — support, telecom, business analysts — onto your specific contact center? A custom 1–2 day overview built on our materials can use your own call flows and org chart instead of a generic topology.

Need only part of CCEF?

If your team needs a subset of this program — or a mix of topics from several courses — we build a custom 2–4 day intensive on our own materials, shaped by your infrastructure. One custom program typically replaces 2–3 catalog courses.

CCEF: frequently asked questions

Who should attend CCEF?

Anyone who needs to understand a Contact Center Enterprise deployment before working on it: new platform engineers, UC staff inheriting CCE support, architects and team leads. It is a conceptual course — the hands-on administration skills come next in CCEA.

Is CCEF too basic for experienced UC engineers?

Not usually. Contact Center Enterprise has its own architecture, terminology and failure modes that general UC experience does not cover. Two days spent on the component map and call lifecycle typically pay back during the first production incident.

Does CCEF include hands-on labs?

The course is primarily conceptual — architecture, call flows, components and deployment models — with demonstrations of the platform rather than extended configuration labs. Engineers who need configuration practice should continue to CCEA, which is built around hands-on administration.

What comes after CCEF?

For day-to-day operators, CCEA (administration) and later CCEAA (advanced administration and self-service). For engineers building or extending deployments, CCEI (implementation) and CCET (troubleshooting). CCEF gives all of those courses a common conceptual base.
